Rose Amer

Rose Amer is an artist, writer, producer, and puppet enthusiast.

I’m a born-and-raised New Yorker currently located in Los Angeles. I spent my formative years in Chicago performing and producing improv, sketch, and standup comedy and I’m very proud to say that I was on 2.5 iO Harold Teams and 1 CIC House Team which felt really significant at the time but now feels like something I made up. Some of my other breathtaking accomplishments in entertainment include starring in a short film that premiered at Cannes in 2018, being selected to perform in the Just For Laughs character showcase at Out of Bounds in 2019, co-writing and performing a Noises Off-style farce about the opening night of a sketch revue in Trump's America, directing theater and film, and producing Off-Broadway. Charna Halpern once said this about me: “I like her."

My goal as a person is to let myself play. Since 2020, I have been exploring and experimenting with collage, illustration, poetry, photography, design, and fiber crafts. My work as a crafter is shaped by the collaborative spirit, freeform nature, and process of discovery that govern improv comedy. I am interested in text, textures, and textiles – woven-ness, the process of transformation, and the building of media into form.

It is essential to include that, in addition to puppets, I also love clowns, ghosts, and knowing that aliens are real.
